Oltome is a Kenyan tea brand rooted in the highlands between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges, where altitude, fertile soils and cool mountain air create exceptional conditions for growing tea.
We carefully select and blend teas from the finest gardens in these highlands to create a distinctive cup that is bold, full-bodied, smooth and richly flavoured — crafted with the African tea drinker in mind.
A tribute to the elephants of Mount Kenya.
We named our tea “Oltome” (elephant in the Maa language) as a tribute to the elephants that still roam the forests around Mount Kenya and the Aberdares. To us, the elephant represents strength, resilience, heritage and our enduring connection to the land.
A Family Tradition Since 1988
Our journey began in 1988, when our father cleared a farm covered in wattle trees and planted his first tea garden.
What started as one family's tea garden grew into a lifelong connection with the land and the tea industry. For decades, we have grown tea, cared for our gardens and supplied our leaves to Kenyan tea factories.
As second-generation tea farmers, we have grown up with tea — not simply as a crop, but as part of our family's way of life. We have witnessed the dedication required to nurture a tea garden and learned to appreciate the qualities that make Kenyan tea distinctive.
Today, the next generation is building on that foundation. Oltome represents the next chapter of our family's tea journey: taking the knowledge, heritage and love for tea passed down to us and crafting it into a brand that can be enjoyed far beyond our own tea gardens.
